Do I need to register my bike? Follow
Registering a bike simply means recording the serial number located on the lower portion of the seat tube. You will be able to find this by looking in between the motor and the fender. There are two main reasons to register a bike:
- Warranties and Service - The good news is that DŌST will keep information such as your bike model in our records so it will be easy for us to find should the need arise (i.e. warranty, service or parts). As with any online purchase, it’s a good idea to save any email correspondence you have with DŌST including your order confirmation and serial number.
- Theft - A bike’s registration (serial number) is like a fingerprint that allows for the identification of an individual bike should it ever get stolen. Many police departments in Canada and the USA recommend and provide bike registration to make it easier to identify and return stolen bikes. We recommend you check with your local detachment for details. BikeIndex.org also provides free bike registration services.
